Google updated its popular Maps system today to display real estate listings.
Now, when using Google Maps, you can click the "More" button on the map and find a check box titled "Real Estate." Upon clicking it, you'll see red dots representing homes for sale at their locations. Read Google's post on the Maps update on the Google Lat Long Blog.
Google appears to be pulling the listing data from its Google Base system. So if you are currently syndicating your listings to Google Base or a listing syndication company that syndicates to Google Base, they should already be on the map. If not, Delta Media Group can automatically syndicate your listings to Google Base for you. Click the "Data Feeds" button on the Admin side of the DeltaNet for more info.
It will be interesting to see if the Google Maps real estate feature will spark the interest of consumers. While it certainly is a convenient option, it seemed to go live today with little hoopla among the real estate industry. Maybe the focus was on the potential extension of the first-time homebuyer tax credit. On either front, check back to Delta Media Group's News blog for more info.
